SunUp’s AMPS selected to enable Pennsylvania Public Television Network’s Digital Asset Management and Distribution System.

Santa Clara, CA - SunUp today announced that its Asset Management & Propagation System (AMPS) has been selected as part of an AZCAR led consortium to enable the Pennsylvania Public Television Network (PPTN) Digital Media Asset Management System (DAMS) and Non-Real Time File Transfer System (NRTFTS) project. The system will bring about a paradigm shift in PPTN’s content distribution service by enabling authorized users statewide to search, browse, and get secure non real time (NRT) delivery of digital assets from PPTN’s Digital Asset library. SunUp’s Traffic and Control System already manages PPTN’s state wide real time programming between PPTN and each of the state’s public affiliate stations. The DAMS NRTFTS system will further leverage PPTN’s broadband infrastructure to enable PPTN’s new Digital Asset Management library and on demand NRT content delivery services.

“PPTN currently provides Pennsylvania with a digital state of the art interconnect system that SunUp products have helped manage since 2002.” said Tim O’Kelly, Director of Project Administration at SunUp. “We are delighted that we now have the opportunity to play a key role in implementing PPTN’s DAMS and NRTFTS project. SunUp views PPTN to be a pioneer with its planned services for a rich multi-format digital content distribution network for the statewide broadcast, public, and educational community.”

This project is being implemented by an AZCAR led consortium where SunUp will provide end-to-end content and metadata lifecycle management, operational workflow management, and ingest and distribution of rich video assets for the overall solution comprised of SunUp’ AMPS, Autonomy IDOL, Rhozet Carbon Coder, and Isilon storage products.

“PPTN is leaping into the 21st Century through this endeavor” said PPTN President, Sylvia Strobel. “Our content archive contains thousands of hours of programming, and the need to easily search, retrieve and send content has never been greater.”

“SunUp’s successful track record with PPTN, as well as their willingness to provide a strong and competitive solution that meets our design goals made their solution compelling.” commented Rich Kaelberer, PPTN VP of Satellite and Broadcast Operations. “We look forward to working with SunUp on this initiative.”

The Pennsylvania Public Television Network is a technology service agency and a grantor to eight affiliate public television stations, with a mission to advance educational, cultural and civic opportunities and support public safety. PPTN is accountable for Commonwealth funds and supports PPTN’s public media organizations in their service to the citizens of the Commonwealth.
