Overview
In today's digital content-rich world, Network Operations Centers
(NOCs) use a multitude of systems from different vendors to manage
the increasingly complex and evolving requirements for content
acquisition, management, and distribution. SunUp's open system
applications provide an end-to-end layer of content management.
They work in conjunction with the CAS/DRM, Middleware, SMS, VOD,
digital headend, and back office systems to unify the operator
interface, improve operational efficiency, simplify content management,
and make it easier to implement new business models and integrate
new technologies and standards in the future. SunUp modular products
combine to support different delivery mechanisms (IPTV, Satellite
DTH, Cable, or Content Distribution networks) and the business
models that service providers plan to implement.
Software Applications
SunUp software is divided into four broad functional modules:
- The Asset Factory module includes content workflow tools and
management to streamline content ingest, creation, and staging,
including resource management.
- The Asset Manager module includes content workflow tools and
management for receipt, metadata management, automated distribution,
and resource management for content
- The Broadcast Manager includes schedule and service management
for playout of broadcast services such as turnaround, PPV and
other originated channels, power scheduling tools for Barker
and NVOD, as well as subsystem control and streams manager
- The Business Manager includes a set of tools that link the
business processes with content, tracking content contracts and
enforcing terms, creating and synchronizing content offers, and
computing and posting provider payments
Open Platform
SunUp's applications are built on an architecture that is open,
highly scalable and highly available. They support standards-based
integration with installed new or legacy systems in order to meet
the evolving business, content and service management requirements
of network operators. They minimize the downtime for upgrade or
transition to new technologies in the network. Specific integration
features include:
-
Support for multiple protocols for integration,
including XML over HTTP and Web Services interface
- Complete support of Cablelabs, DVB, and other
industry standards for interfaces
- Configurable communication and notification using
SNMP, TCP/IP, RPC, SOAP or other protocols
- Custom interfaces for communicating business specific
information
