The Challenge:

Today's DTH operator is facing new competition from Telecom operators and elevated levels of competition from Cable operators. Both are exploiting their delivery network capabilities to provide new interactive services and High Definition services. DTH operators are responding with a combination of additional Standard Definition and High Definition services, innovative marketing and promotions, advanced guide and offer presentation, and new next generation interactive services.

However, added complexity makes the operation expensive and error-prone at a time when costs need to be even more tightly controlled. The necessary content and offer management is complex. Content comes in more forms and formats than ever, with more and more complex contracts attached, and is delivered in more service offerings than ever before. Innovative marketing requires the synchronization of many subsystems in the digital headend. Additional bandwidth management is needed to cope with new HD content and data streams for interactive applications.

The SunUp Solution:

SunUp's open and modular software applications streamline and automate content management, ensure contract enforcement, and make sophisticated offer management simple. They unify and extend the capabilities of existing CA, EIS, EPG, SMS, and other subsystems to automate the operational workflow and provide the Content, Offer, Service, and Resource Management needed for turnaround services, in-house originated services such as Pay Per View and NVOD, and interactive services. Sunup software simplifies scheduling, making it easy to create the day-parted and virtual channels that increase channel count without adding bandwidth, and automates bandwidth management. An open, configurable suite of applications streamline the following operational tasks:
